Double mistake : 2d elliptical orbits & a colored sun.
Please show 3d helical orbits & a white sun, not fiction !

In Phil's 2013 review of DJ Sadhu's version 1 video showing helical orbits (version 2 was made later & is on my main page), I think what really upset Phil Plait was that a mere commoner like a music DJ captured people's imagination like never before and all the popular science & space experts did not have anything like it, including himself, which showed helical orbits. The popularity of DJ Sadhu's version 1 video is due to the helical depiction of planetary orbits and not the vortex part or his beliefs. Many people admit that the word vortex in his original video should have been replaced with helix and probably that is what Sadhu meant also.
But the model that Phil Plait is peddling is that of a STATIONARY solar system and is hence, clearly WRONG ! And that frame of reference argument is very dumb.
An astronomer like him should be educating the masses about the helical orbits of the planets and yet he is busy peddling fiction as science ! And I am saying this knowing very well his academic qualifications & professional experience.
This a perfect case of mental conditioning defeating education & experience !

Are all space agencies then wrong in depicting it like that too ? No, they are just ignoring the Sun's motion for simpler calculations of the planetary orbits and their visuals are fine for their specific purpose.
But to teach the very same thing to the masses would be ridiculously stupid & WRONG ! You have to show a moving solar system, with planets tracing helical orbits.
Final note on Phil Plait : He has mastered the art of peddling nonsense disguised as science to the gullible masses. Watch his pathetically wrong understanding of comets vs. a more scientific explanation. I could give more such examples but I don't want to go off the topic of helical orbits. It is sufficient to say that Phil really is a bad astronomer ! (pun intended)
